About the championship

Where middle belt talent takes centre stage

Since its maiden edition in 2018, the 3X3 Summer North Central Championships has been the Isah Umar Foundation's flagship competition — a tournament built specifically to surface the raw, uncoached talent that exists in communities across Nigeria's middle belt.

Every summer, young athletes aged 16 and under travel from Benue, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, the FCT, Kogi, and Kwara to compete in the fast-paced 3×3 format. For many, it is their first experience of organised competition. For some, it becomes the beginning of a journey that leads to scholarships and opportunities beyond their communities.

The championship is more than a tournament. It is a scouting ground, a celebration of youth, and a statement that Nigerian basketball does not begin and end in Lagos or Abuja.
