Renovation of Dilapidated Courts

Gusau & Katsina 2017 · Borno, Maiduguri 2016

The foundation rehabilitated abandoned and deteriorating basketball courts in Gusau and Katsina (2017) and Borno, Maiduguri (2016), restoring safe, functional playing surfaces for youth in underserved communities across northern Nigeria.

Donation of Uprights

Owerri, Delta State & Niger State Sports Commission 2025

Ahead of the National Division 1 Championships 2025, the foundation donated basketball uprights to Owerri in Delta State and a Slam Dunk Pro Upright to the Niger State Sports Commission after 14 years of inactivity, ensuring communities and state bodies had the equipment needed to host and develop the game. It was celebrated with a friendly match between Niger Porters and AKUM in preparation for the championship which took place at the Basketball Ball gym.

Centagon International School Sports Program

Maitama, Abuja

The foundation partnered with the Amb. Wakili Foundation to deliver a structured sports program at Centagon International School in Maitama, Abuja — bringing professional coaching, equipment, and mentorship directly into the school environment.

Inter Secondary School Basketball Championships

Annual

The Isah Umar Foundation Inter Secondary School Basketball Championships brings together secondary school teams from across Nigeria to compete, develop their skills, and experience the discipline and camaraderie that competitive basketball builds.

Coaching Clinics

Ongoing

The foundation runs coaching clinics across Nigeria, equipping local coaches with modern training techniques, player development strategies, and the tools to grow basketball at the grassroots level in their communities.Our flagship clinic, LIBERTY COACHING CLINIC was in 2018, an exciting experience as Isah Umar Foundation hosting a 2 day coaching session for Nigerian coaches and upcoming ones as well. Former University of Illinois, former NBA player who played for Detroit Pistons and Denver Nuggets and now coach/director of Liberty Edge Basketball Organization Marcus Liberty alongside his former University teammate and Former Nigerian International Centre Andy Kpedy were the Instructors of the coaching clinic.

Annual 3x3 Summer North Central Championships

Annual

The Annual 3x3 Summer North Central Championships is a flagship event that celebrates street basketball culture in north-central Nigeria, drawing teams from across the region to compete in the fast-paced, exciting 3-on-3 format.The event brings the best U-16 talent from the middle belt states namely Benue, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, FCT, Kogi and Kwara. Witness untapped talent as these kids showcased themselves in all manners possible.

Hoop Kicks

Hoop Kicks is the foundation's shoe donation initiative — delivering basketball shoes to players and communities across Nigeria who lack the basic footwear needed to train and compete safely. Because every player deserves to play.
